I love hearing about your adventures and, of course, your amazing recipes! This was so fun to read. And I'm delighted you were the initial guest for The Nourished Shelfie. You were the perfect person to kick it off.
I am always in love with your travel photos and especially your RV. Is that a deck off the back? So fabulous. I was born by the water and then my parents moved away and as an adult I too crave being by the water. Any opportunity I get that’s where I head. One day I’ll be there permanently. There’s something very healing for me there. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Melissa! Yes! That's a deck off the back - our 5th wheel has a space in the back to haul our motorcycle. The back of the RV folds down into a ramp so we can run the bike up into the "garage" and while we're parked, it functions as a deck. We love that feature! I relate strongly to your feeling that water is healing. That is exactly how I feel.
Suggestion - if you have not done it already - replicate the galley tools you love and adore in the RV on the sailboat. (okay, maybe that stand mixer is a challenge hahahaha). Don't plan on moving between the 2 spaces as that will drive you crazy (ask me how I know)
Yes! I have started doing this... My goal is to move as few things as possible from the RV to the boat and back. I got the galley stocked with some basics last year and have been adding to it over the past several days.
100% agree on being near the water!!! There is nothing like it and definitely soothes the soul 🌊 BTW, there is nothing basic about that vanilla pound cake! It looks absolutely stunning 😍
I’m soaking in that view! Also, I want that entire menu. I love that there’s not just one sauce but two on the steak bowls - my kind of meal. And I have a half head of cabbage in the fridge and will definitely be making that salad!
You have enjoyed some incredible views, friend. So amazing! 💖 And the boat…have you done a tour of it yet? You and Steve know how to LIVE.
And also how to eat well…that steak and chimichurri sounds amazing! Is that the same recipe that we made with the potatoes? I still think about it. Should probably make some this weekend…
Your Caraway pans are beautiful. That color goes with food so well! It’s so happy and totally reflective of the love you put into your recipes. Love this issue, Rebecca! 💖
Robin and I did a cocktail class over a Substack LIVE last year soon after we'd moved ourselves onboard and I did a short tour. The recording is available if you'd like to watch! Maybe I'll do another one this year. :-) https://www.rebeccablackwell.com/p/a-sailboat-tour-and-cocktails-with-f68
The steak bowls are basically the same thing we cooked together only over rice and veggies instead of fries! I'm not sure there's a wrong way to eat steak, garlic aioli, and chimichurri... although I might draw the line at ice cream. 😂
Yes! The Caraway colors! My kids got me the perracotta!

Thank you Mira! It was such an honor to be the first guest! I suspect you and I could spend days talking about books. :-)
I bet we could 🩵

It soothes the soul! Yes, 100%. That pound cake is always a welcome treat around here. Wish you were close enough to come share a slice with me!
Me too!

I know you love a good sauce as much as I do. A few of my favorites have come from your books!
