First of all, chicken nachos with chimichurri!!!!! Must make! Second, I also am not competitive and play card/board games for the fun of it and it drives friends and family nuts (I’m surrounded my type A competitive peeps). Hahahaha!

Luck, and the support of others, which is a part of the "luck" equation too, because being able to support others means you're feeling good about where you are yourself, and that is also due to luck at the core.
I just love your collaborative nature! So much of this resonates (as it so often does). Love being alone (and need it). Love collaborating. Love how preparing food and writing about it must include those two sides of us. And love that this work has brought us into each other’s lives!
You’re my hero and inspiration, Rebecca! I love what you’re doing with our foodwriting group, and your perspective on cookbooks as collaborative projects. It makes me realize I’m collaborating with my family ghosts in the book I’m writing about three generations of foodwriters.
Your complicated relationship with the word “choice” resonated with me because I have a similarly complicated relationship with it. It made me think of Ina Garten’s Be Ready When the Luck Happens. I have always appreciated her belief that while we do not choose where we begin, luck and preparation often work hand in hand. Opportunity may arrive unexpectedly, but whether we are ready for it is one of the few things we can influence.
Yes! I think that’s true. And what’s also true is that our ability to “be ready” is also, largely, luck and circumstance. I’m never really all that sure, when I really start digging, what I actually have control over. If anything.

This explains alot about you! I always like working with others more than alone but… i like being my own boss.
I LOVE being my own boss. I don’t think I could ever go back to working in a company under a boss.
