Love watching this transition. We’ve learned so much from life on the road—and I imagine the water will teach a whole new kind of tidy. Sending good vibes from The Tidy RV crew.
Boat projects- never ending. Looks like you've started out brilliantly. Congrats! If the spices don't stay put, I'd recommend putting them in a drawer if you have one available. I can't remember if you're salt water or fresh, but using small ziplock bags will keep the spice from clumping into an unusable rock (esp if cruising on salt water).
Thank you Wendy! We are on Lake Michigan, so fresh water. I have already noticed some clumping in the salt jar so I'll try your ziplock bag trick! We sailed this weekend in choppy water, with high wind and 3 foot waves and the spices stayed put!
I was waiting for this post to come out. So darn excited for you in this new chapter. And I know you will bring us along as you do with your charming hospitality, writing and story telling. Congratulations to you both.
Thank you Sheryl!!! Our first weekend living on the boat was filled with challenges, BUT we are getting our systems in place and it's feeling like home. I think we are going to love spending our summers onboard.
Haha! I also think I need to come organize your kitchen in Italy! That sounds like a marvelous excuse! I'm doing a quick tour on a Substack LIVE this Thursday and will talk a little bit about how I've got it arranged.... for now at least. I'm sure I'll change it a hundred times!
I'll let you know next week! The container of flatware will get tucked away inside a cupboard. I'm hoping the spices will stay put. Steve is not as hopeful about this as I am. :-)
I just moved into my 37 foot and boy is she demanding!

Love that new kitchen!!
Thank you! It's stretching my tiny-space skills, that's for sure! But, I think I'm figuring it out.
It is so beautiful Rebecca
Thank you so much!!!
What a project, oiling all that beautiful wood! Excited for you, friend!
I am soooooooo glad it's done. For now at least. :-) Thank you friend!
I am so giddy for you! Also wondering how the spices and spoons are going to hold up when hitting the high seas! 🥰
Update! We sailed this weekend in choppy water, with high wind and 3 foot waves and the spices stayed put!
Woo hoo - thats great. 3 feet waves with wind - you guys are getting broken in lol!
Haha! I know! We are still pretty clumsy out there… but getting smoother with every sail!
I need you to come organize my micro-kitchen in Italy! You have room to spare?! How do you weave this magic? Anywhoo - welcome aboard and bon voyage!

Oh so fun!!! Let me see if the time works. Yes that’s a perfect excuse 😉
