It's hard to believe your time in Michigan is coming to a close and you have to start preparing your boat for winter storage. It seems like you just arrived a month ago. But I'm so glad you are thoroughly enjoying your time there. Just enjoy to the most the time you have left. You have made so many precious memories this summer. I have my eye on the Bourbon Vanilla Caramel Bars for my gardeners' fall dinner. Yum!! I bought a bottle of Bourbon in Breckenridge a couple years ago and love cooking with it. I still have some left. It's the best.
Those cookie bars are the perfect use for that bottle of bourbon! I imagine your gardeners' fall dinner is incredibly delicious! Is it a potluck? I am also feeling a little bit unbelieving that the season is almost over. But, we had gorgeous weather for sailing last weekend and are hoping to get out for at least one, if not two, sunset sails this week before we pack it all up.
I just read “a thousand days in Tuscany” (highly recommend) and she says something about realizing that progress nowadays comes from going back in time not more futuristic. Slowing down to make it better. Sounds just like you! Love the candle idea!!
yes! I feel like we totally skip from summer to Christmas just like that! It’s pretty crazy! Have my eye on that Dutch apple baby- seems like a perfect intro into fall cooking! Enjoy your last days on the water!!
I know! I kind of hate it. Every year I try to create some space between summer and Christmas, and honestly, for a while now I've been trying to keep the whole holiday season a bit more contained. I want to thoroughly enjoy a few fun things during the holiday season, not be rushing around from one thing to the next.
Omg girl those caramel bars!!! And it’s hard to believe your time in Michigan is almost over - didn’t you just get there? Time flies!
It certainly feels that way! Weren’t we just at the retreat last month???

Yes, it's a potluck. I'm making Autumn squash soup(using my garden butternut and pumpkin) and these amazing bars. All the women are excellent cooks.
How delightful. I’d guess it’s the best meal in town … probably the best meal in the state!

I just added A Thousand Days in Tuscany to my "to-read" list!
