A while back I received a request for some small batch baking recipes. I immediately saw how useful this could be. Most of the time it’s just Steve and I and we don’t need two dozen cookies laying around calling to us day and night.

So starts the small batch baking series with this recipe for cherry almond oatmeal cookies. The recipe is based on my all-time favorite, tried and true, oatmeal raisin cookie recipe. Those cookies are my husband’s favorite dessert and I’ve been making them for at least 20 years.

Just like those familiar oatmeal raisin cookies, these cherry almond oatmeal cookies are buttery, thin and chewy, full of flavor, and not too sweet. They spread quite a bit as they bake, growing into large two-handed cookies that feel like an indulgent splurge.

They are the kind of thing you bake when you want a COOKIE, not just a nibble. The recipe makes just enough to satisfy a craving and maybe share a couple with someone you love.
